“MISSING LINK” FOUND: New Fossil Links Humans, Lemurs?

MISSING LINKMay 19, 2009—Meet “Ida,” the small “missing link” found in Germany that’s created a big media splash and will likely continue to make waves among those who study human origins.

In a new book, documentary, and promotional Web site, paleontologist Jorn Hurum, who led the team that analyzed the 47-million-year-old fossil seen above, suggests Ida is a critical missing-link species in primate evolution (interactive guide to human evolution from National Geographic magazine).

(Among the team members was University of Michigan paleontologist Philip Gingerich, a member of the Committee for Research and Exploration of the National Geographic Society, which owns National Geographic News.)

The fossil, he says, bridges the evolutionary split between higher primates such as monkeys, apes, and humans and their more distant relatives such as lemurs.

Jorn Hurum and his fellow committee members have nothing scholarly and tangible to share except for their imaginations and an extinct animal — an animal, which in their mind, should resemble the missing link. The members don’t even have solid molecular evidence to prove their claims. It is now possible to look at cells from a “nano” perspective to examine parts of cells. If we are able to do that, then I ask evolutionists to show me the DNA cells responsible for creating all the multitude of life forms (i.e. humans, elephants, plants, insects and birds) from that single primordial form. Said differently, the theory of evolution is just as outrageous as saying everything you will ever need to build a computer is found in a single screw. Isn’t it funny that the only evidence evolutionists they can come up with is that Ida "looks" and "fits" into their personal and heavily biased, evolutionary point of view.

Many people have been mislead by science-fiction scientists, like Jorn Hurum, into believing that evolution is a fact. Evolution according to the Doctrine of Common Descent – that all life on Earth has descended from one original primordial form, is a myth. Carl Woese, a leading microbiologist from University of Illinois, challenges Darwin’s theory of evolution. He states the origin of species originated from "three life forms (which) evolved separately but exchanged genes." The reason I’m bringing up this point is to show that not all scientists agree with evolution as fact. Other scientists have their own set of beliefs.

What is the greatest argument evolutionary science-fiction scientists have contributed to evolution? The greatest arguments they can come up with are how finches and moths have changed appearance over time. I’m sorry to say this does not prove animals evolved into different species. Rather, it simply points out that recessive genes become dominant when the right environmental "ingredients" are present. To use birds and moths as an example for true evolution is definitely a far stretch in the imagination. Anyone who is gullible enough to believe such an unproven claim has been deceived.

The credibility of National Geographic definitely becomes questionable when they can publish articles from Brian Handwerk who’s sources are nothing more than science-fiction paleontologists at their best. The writer of the article broke the cardinal rule of writing – i.e.. use good, credible sources when writing.

“This is the first link to all humans,” Hurum, of the Natural History Museum in Oslo, Norway, said in a statement. Ida represents “the closest thing we can get to a direct ancestor.”

Evolution has a major flaw which ignorant “science-fiction” scientists from the Natural History Museum tend to over look. That is — if organisms inherited traits from their ancestors, then we should be able to find, from a molecular level, every single human “inheritable” trait from that primodial single-celled organism. Evolutionary hypothesis claims that all organisms descended from a “primordal” form. If so, then it naturally follows that every single DNA found in every animal should be found on that one single-celled organism. If so, then I challenge these science-fiction scientists to produce the evidence from molecular biology. If they can’t produce the evidence, then the statement that “evolution is a fact” – is simply nothing more than science-fiction.

News media which continue to report Evolution as fact, always mislead the public and isn’t reporting the truth. News media, like MSNBC, which tend to report science-fiction myths, like evolution, are backwards.

Ida, properly known as Darwinius masillae, has a unique anatomy. The lemur-like skeleton features primate-like characteristics, including grasping hands, opposable thumbs, clawless digits with nails, and relatively short limbs.

“This specimen looks like a really early fossil monkey that belongs to the group that includes us,” said Brian Richmond, a biological anthropologist at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., who was not involved in the study, published this week in the journal PLoS ONE.

But there’s a big gap in the fossil record from this time period, Richmond noted. Researchers are unsure when and where the primate group that includes monkeys, apes, and humans split from the other group of primates that includes lemurs.

“[Ida] is one of the important branching points on the evolutionary tree,” Richmond said, “but it’s not the only branching point.”

At least one aspect of Ida is unquestionably unique: her incredible preservation, unheard of in specimens from the Eocene era, when early primates underwent a period of rapid evolution. (Explore a prehistoric time line.)

“From this time period there are very few fossils, and they tend to be an isolated tooth here or maybe a tailbone there,” Richmond explained. “So you can’t say a whole lot of what that [type of fossil] represents in terms of evolutionary history or biology.”

In Ida’s case, scientists were able to examine fossil evidence of fur and soft tissue and even picked through the remains of her last meal: fruits, seeds, and leaves.

What’s more, the newly described “missing link” was found in Germany’s Messel Pit. Ida’s European origins are intriguing, Richmond said, because they could suggest—contrary to common assumptions—that the continent was an important area for primate evolution.

To believe that every organism descended from one primordial form, called evolution, without scientific evidence is simply barbaric. Strict evolutionists who argue you that believing in God is like believing in mythical gods would be contradicting themselves. The fact is — evolution is a myth. The irony is — people who lambast Christians for believing in a mythical God are guilty of believing in myths too. When it comes down to it, evolutionists put more faith in Darwinian mythology than true scientific analysis and observation. In conclusion, molecular biology is finding out more and more that all things point to a Creator — we call God.
