Anger builds against Reid’s dirty tricks
The response from our Liberty Counsel team over the past 72 hours to Harry Reid’s dirty tricks in handling the anti-faith Hate Crimes law shows that grassroots anger is building!
Thousands of Liberty Counsel friends and supporters have stepped forward to make calls and send faxes in protest of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s blatant abuse of the rules to prevent an honest vote from taking place!
As I noted last week, the Senate Judiciary Committee never even got a chance to vote on the bill — a blatant departure from proper procedure!
This legislation is far too controversial for him to “smuggle” it through. Reid bypassed a fair and open debate in order to deliver a political prize to homosexual interest groups — pure and simple!
Americans are simply fed up with the political bullying tactics from President Obama and his cronies in Congress who are moving at a blitzkrieg pace to push America toward total statism!
And this Hate Crimes bill does just that — putting more and more power in the hands of federal law enforcement agencies to meddle in our lives — even in the pulpits of our churches!
+ + Final votes this week
Even though the Hate Crimes amendment was passed, since it is now attached to the Defense Authorization bill there will be more preliminary votes before the final Senate vote can take place.
I want to make sure Harry Reid and his partners “feel the heat” from grassroots citizens all week!
I know it’s now a long shot for stopping the Hate Crimes bill, but there are still some technicalities in the larger bill that could cause even more delays before the final vote.
Most importantly, Harry Reid and his crowd know that we are watching everything they’ve been doing! And they know we are intensely angry at the cynical, manipulative way they’ve handled the Hate Crimes bill from the beginning.
All seven of the minority members of the Senate Judiciary Committee even wrote a strong letter of protest to their chairman about the sneaky way the Hate Crimes bill was treated!
So, this week, I’m asking you to take action once again to protest this outrageous political travesty…

Even if you have already faxed your Senators, I hope you will do so again. These Senators need to know just how angry we are — right up until they cast their final vote on this bill!

sneaked the Hate Crimes bill through the Senate as an amendment.
Our sources inform us that Senate phone lines continue to be
jammed with protests. Let’s keep it up!

Talking Points:
1. I am very disappointed that the Senate fast-tracked the Hate
Crimes Prevention Act of 2009 by attaching it as an amendment
to the Defense Authorization Act (S.1390).
2. This Hate Crimes amendment is so controversial that it should have been considered as a stand-alone bill, not rushed through as an amendment. It wasn’t even reviewed by the Senate Judiciary Committee!
3. I oppose the Hate Crimes Prevention Act and urge you to oppose it as well. It is an attack on faith and family while grantingspecial rights based on “sexual orientation” and “gender identity,”terms which are not even clearly defined in the bill.
Finally, please continue to pray for our Nation. Pray that leaders will arise who will stand on principle and strongly resist this new tyranny of statism. Pray that God’s people will be inspired to take action to defend our God-given liberties.
