Keep abortion out of national healthcare legislation

Post Rating

Right now, there’s a divisive debate raging on Capitol Hill.  As Congress drafts sweeping healthcare reform legislation, the question of whether or not to mandate health coverage for abortion services has moved to the forefront.

As unbelievable as it sounds, the current proposal in the U.S. House of Representatives would have the effect of mandating that abortion services be a part of every health insurance plan in America.

This is reprehensible!  I cannot, and will not, support abortion as a so-called government-mandated ”health benefit.”  I have just added my name to the ACLJ’s online PETITION TO STOP AN ABORTION MANDATE, and I invite you to do so as well.

The email below from the ACLJ has more information….

As Congress plans sweeping healthcare reform, there’s a new and very troubling legislative development underway on Capitol Hill.

As unbelievable as it sounds, the current proposal in the U.S. House of Representatives has a deadly catch …

The proposed healthcare plan currently includes mandatory coverage for abortions.  Abortion would be considered your new ”health benefit” in both government and private insurance plans

This is outrageous!  The ACLJ is demanding (review our press release) that Congress insert a critical exemption to REMOVE abortion services from mandatory coverage.  I need your help.

Add your name to our online nationwide PETITION TO STOP AN ABORTION MANDATE now and stand with the ACLJ to keep abortion services out of national healthcare legislation.

Of course, the pro-abortion language in this legislation isn’t straight-forward.  It’s crafted in a surreptitious manner, without a single reference to ”abortion.”

Rather, the plan would include numerous areas of mandatory coverage, such as ”family planning,” ”outpatient services,” and ”physician services.”  But any number of these terms has the legal effect of including abortion as mandated for coverage.

Demand that Congress include a critical exemption to REMOVE abortion services from mandatory coverage.  Add your name immediately to our online nationwide PETITION TO STOP AN ABORTION MANDATE.

Bottom line:  Without a specific exemption, abortion will be a part of mandatory coverage under universal healthcare.

Decisions about this issue in the coming weeks are essential to the future of the pro-life movement – and, more importantly, the millions of unborn babies killed as a result of any insurance-covered abortion.

That’s why I strongly urge you to join the ACLJ’s online petition campaign to keep abortion services out of healthcare reform legislation.

And use our website’s forward-to-friend tool to alert other pro-life citizens to this crucial campaign.

Rest assured, we are actively working on this important matter and will keep you updated.

Thank you for standing up for life alongside the ACLJ.  God bless you.
