Sen. Harry Reid’s health care plan definitely includes taxpayer-funded abortions – plus many other totally unacceptable provisions – setting the stage for the first key Senate showdown on Saturday night.
First it was House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s 2,032-page plan for the government takeover of health care. Now it’s Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s even larger 2,074-page monstrosity!
Like the original House bill, Reid’s bill includes mandated taxpayer-funded abortion as well as an “abortion premium” fee built right into the government-run plan!
Why didn’t Senator Reid, while drafting his bill, take clues from the abortion battle already waged in the House over Pelosi’s bill? Does he even care that the majority of Americans don’t want to pay for abortions?
Reid’s plan contains nothing even resembling the anti-abortion Stupak-Pitts amendment passed only after pro-life citizens put extreme pressure on the House. Yet on pages 116 through 124, Reid’s bill has an abortion mandate and monthly “premium”!
+ + Reid’s bill is a moral and economic disaster
Even though it has been public for just a day, the financial details coming forth are truly shocking! In fact, one Senator called the tactics being used to justify the outrageous costs “Bernie Madoff accounting,” equating the level of deception to that used by the notorious Ponzi schemer. For example…
==Two budgetary gimmicks hide more than $300 billion in costs
==Much of the program does not even begin until 2014, greatly limiting the costs in the ten-year projection window. The bill actually costs $2.5 trillion over its first 10 years!
==Reid’s version of ObamaCare also includes billions of dollars of unfunded mandates and other hidden costs and taxes.
No wonder responsible journalists refuse to mindlessly parrot the “$848 billion” line Harry Reid is trumpeting. This really is “tooth fairy accounting,” as the Wall Street Journal said.
Plus, we know the actual costs of government health care plans have always historically exceeded projections. There’s just NO WAY Harry Reid’s bill will actually cost what he says!
++Saturday is the first showdown
Saturday night’s “motion to proceed” vote is the first showdown and the battle lines are already drawn. Senator Orrin Hatch said, “It’s going to be a holy war!” when he announced he could not support such a bill.
Two actions I need you to take before the 8:00 pm Saturday vote:
#1 — Send faxes!
I am calling on pro-life Americans to rise up and make their voices heard. Please go here to schedule your faxes using our system:

Did thousands of Americans die in vain? It seems Americans could care less about freedom. The electronic media has done a fanciful job in keeping Americans busy. It’s true that Americans are too preoccupied with HDTV entertainment, internet porn, partying at sex clubs, drugs, alcohol and other selfish forms of entertainment. It’s a sad time in history when the greatest, free country in the world is letting their freedoms slip away.
ABORTION.
If healthcare is about saving lives, then why do people not want to save the lives of babies in the womb?
I know! It’s because they want to accumulate lots and lots of junk. Junk like money to buy HDTV’s, drugs, money, women and power. When will people discover that things won’t make you happy. The persuit of junk will do nothing but make you feel unfulfilled and unhappy.
